Anyone have any experience with viewports?

I used to use them all the time. Basic idea is:

You often see UI's with a panel along the bottom of the screen. Players tend to put action bars, recount, Healing frames, chat frames etc in there and it makes your UI look more organised.
Viewports do the same thing, you can have a big black border along the bottom and ones at the side and top. The key difference is that the rendered area above the box scales. Meaning that you don't cover up anything that's happening in the game world by having an overlay on top of it. Characters are slightly smaller within this rendered area but it's not noticeable and you don't lose any of the game world. They're really great. The only problem I had with them last time I tried was having Vuhdo (read Healbot if you aren't familiar with Vuhdo, it's the same idea) within this 'voidzone', stopped me from being able to click on the healing panels, thus making the add-on pointless.

Anyone know a work around?

I used to use kg-panels to mimic view ports. I don't like changing the rendered parts of the screen so I just created a panel at the bottom that has something like 50% opacity and then put all my addons within that. Where possible I hide frames when they are not being used so that I can see more stuff when needed.
